FIRST DAY
"Camp Hickory Hill is the place to be" as the first camper arrives and has a touching reunion with one of her old friends from years past. After chatting it up with old counslors, the campers go through the various steps of the check-in process. In the Arts and Crafts building the camper starts by talking to our camp director; making sure all of the paper work is in order, signing extra forms, taking keys if a camper drove themself. Then they move on down the line where they recieve their lock and lock combination for the BLOOD SHED. Then they stop to talk to the medical director about their insulin regeamen and/or other medication. Once the campers have finished the check-in they head down to the NEEDLE SHACK for head lice and foot inspection and just an all around check up. Then they go bring their stuff to their cabin and mingle with fellow campers.
For new and old campers to get to know one another they go up to the challenge course for team building exercises until blood check for dinner. They play name games and must swing across a boiling pit of lava that is 8 billion degrees and land safely on the other side.
Then the day winds down with blood checks, shots, then a wonderful meal of turkey, mashpotatos, green beans and whole wheat rolls. Soon to be hyped up again by a rousing game of dodge ball with teams 1 and 4 being our top players!
Soon returning for a nighttime snack then having our voices echoing through the woods with our spirited singing of our most cherished camp songs at campfire. Throats sore and cheeks ear to ear, campers and staff wind down with bed time shots, showers and an inviting bed to rest up for the week ahead.
